This post may sound like a very typical female confession, or perhaps the words of someone who was betrayed and eventually chose to leave a relationship. Not because they wanted to, but because they could no longer carry the weight of another person’s choices, actions, and broken promises.
I have to admit that recently I experienced a tiny bit of satisfaction. Not out of malice—I am simply not that kind of person—but because some things I had been told and led to believe turned out not to be entirely true.
But this isn’t really about her.
In the past months, there have been situations that would have completely upset me. Situations that would have kept me awake at night, questioning myself, comparing myself, wondering why I wasn’t enough.
And then something unexpected happened.
Nothing.
I felt nothing.
When I realized it, I actually smiled.
Not because I don’t care. Not because the past suddenly stopped mattering. But because for the first time, I understood that I was slowly letting go.
I didn’t expect to reach this point so soon. I didn’t expect to face certain situations with such calmness. Yet here I am.
I can finally see that the healing is happening.
It hasn’t happened because of some miracle. It happened because of the people around me, because of my daughter, because of the little home and garden that have become my sanctuary. Day by day, I have been building a life that belongs to me. A life that feels peaceful. A life that makes me happy.
And that is what I want to tell anyone who feels stuck right now.
If you feel like nothing is changing, trust me—it is.
Healing is often invisible while it’s happening. You don’t notice it day by day. But one morning, something happens that would once have broken your heart, and suddenly you realize it doesn’t have the same power over you anymore.
That is the moment you know you are moving forward.
And today, thankfully, I can finally say:
I am doing better.
