A Brushstroke of Healing

Welcome to the Travel & Spaces corner of my blog—a space where I want to share little journeys, whether far away or just within myself, that have left a mark on me.

And today, I’d love to tell you about one of my first healing activities: a painting course.

Yes, I’ve dabbled in drawing here and there—enough that what I draw usually resembles what it’s meant to be! But this time, I wanted to dive in fully. So my daughter, my cousin, and I signed up for a local painting class together.

The class was simple—we got to choose our subject and then followed step-by-step instructions on how to create it. Honestly? I was expecting more of a peaceful, mind-emptying experience. But here’s what happened instead…

Because we were constantly waiting for the next instruction, my mind stayed super alert and busy. And that kind of defeated the purpose for me. I realized I wasn’t really letting go—I was still in “control mode,” mentally over-engaged.

But here’s the twist: I learned something important that day. I learned how to approach the painting process, and now I know what to do on my own. I believe that with the next painting, and the one after that, I’ll get closer to that calm, flowing state I was hoping for. The journey has just begun.

And I’m excited to share my creations with you as I go 🎨
If you paint too, I’d love to see your work! Let’s build a little creative community here, where we inspire each other through colors, strokes, and stories told without words.

So grab your brushes, let your heart guide your hand, and let’s see where art takes us.
