“Healing is not about fixing yourself; it’s about discovering who you really are.”
(– Vex King)
Where to start…
First of all, I began reading. A lot.
Books became little companions on this journey—and I’ll be sharing some of them here in the hope that they might speak to you too, just like they did to me.
I haven’t tried everything these books suggest (yet!), but that’s exactly why we’re here: to explore, to learn, and to gather wisdom from people who’ve walked a path like ours—and who now consider themselves whole, or at least at peace.
This book I want to talk about isn’t the first I read—on the contrary, it’s one of the most recent.
But it’s one that stayed with me deeply.
It’s called Healing Is the New High by Vex King.
What I love most about it is the tone. It’s written in such a gentle, positive, and humble way—there’s no preaching, no pressure. It simply offers tools and reflections, allowing you to take what feels right for you.
It’s a book you can read fairly quickly, but I genuinely recommend slowing down with it.
As someone who’s naturally impatient, I struggled a bit with this at first—but I’m glad I took my time.
The chapters are powerful and engaging, and they deserve space to land.
What really stood out to me is that after each key section, the book offers detailed practical exercises you can try. This makes the whole experience feel very real and personal—not just something you read, but something you do.
I won’t share spoilers or too much detail, but I’ll say this:
The first few exercises were surprisingly emotional for me, but they helped shift something important in my mindset. They reminded me:
🕊️ I’m doing this. I’m choosing to begin.
And most of all, this was one of the books that inspired me to finally start writing this blog.
So if you’re looking for a kind, inspiring guide to accompany the start of your healing journey, I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try.
Have you read this one? Or do you have a book that deeply moved you?
I’d love to hear about it—let’s share our tools along the way.
